Gruesome murder suspect finally in police custody.

Akwasi Agyei Abraham, believed to be the prime suspect, was arrested by the police on Friday at a secluded area at IPT, Asuoyeboa, where suspected Indian hemp peddlers and smokers also operate their illicit trade.
The 23-year-old suspect is the nephew of the late father of the 13-year-old boy, John Opoku.
A scary-looking sharp machete, which the suspect was believed to have used to commit the heinous act, was found on Akwasi Agyei Abraham at the time of his arrest, speculations suggest.
The police, acting on a tip-off, apprehended the 23-year-old suspect who, since committing the bloody act which came as a shock to the entire nation, had been walking about freely. His eventual arrest was effected with the involvement of homicide detectives deployed from Accra.
Reports indicate that the police did a yeoman’s job to help save the life of the suspect last Friday as a mob tried to lay its hands on him, perhaps to end his life in a brutal fashion.
The police, therefore, had to rush the suspect from Abuakwa to Nkawie, also in the Atwima Nwabiagya District, in order to save him from being lynched by irate mob that reportedly thronged the police station with weapons after news broke about his arrest.
Akwasi Agyei’s arrest now brings to five the number of suspects arrested so far by the police in connection with the murder of the young boy, who was a student of Tweneboa Kodua International School.
Ironically, all the arrested persons are family members of the late pastor whose son was murdered in his sleep.
The boy’s mother, Felicity Opoku and sister, Rita Opoku, also sustained life-threatening injuries when their assailants attacked them.
Kwadwo Kru, 52, and Pastor Daniel Appiah, 60, who were picked up by the police at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region, are among those being held by the police for questioning, police sources hinted.
James Akwasi Apau, 42, and 64-year-old Kofi Adjei were earlier arrested in connection with the murder.
A police source said that Akwasi Agyei clearly fit the description of the assailant as given by the mother of the deceased, describing his arrest as a major breakthrough.
The source said the weapon which the suspect, Akwasi Agyei Abraham, used to carry out that heinous crime, was found on him when he was apprehended by the security agents who had traced and tailed him for some sometime.
The suspect used to pick quarrels with the mother of the deceased, whom he usually accused of preventing her husband, his late uncle, from supporting the family, sources hinted.
Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicates that the police had earlier missed the suspect within a few minutes when they stormed the ‘Ganja’ base in mufti to pick him.
The police, therefore, regrouped, and acting upon credible information from some informants, managed to grab the suspect on the second attempt.
